The SolarHeart®Engine is the new Stirling engine developed by Cool Energy that converts low-temperature (100oC to 300oC) heat energy to electrical power output ranging from 3 kW to 20 kW, making it suitable for solar thermal electric, biomass power, and waste heat recovery applications.

As a participant at the Asia Pacific Clean Energy Summit’s Defense Energy Technology Challenge recently held in Honolulu, Cool Energy has hit a record of 22% power conversion efficiency from thermal to electrical at a lower temperature of 300oC and has demonstrated that their device produces a maximum power more than 3.2 kW.

In addition, Cool Energy has installed its first customer unit in Schneider Electric (France) which is currently testing the unit.

Sam, Weaver, Cool Energy’s CEO, said that the SolarHeart®Engine has two prototypes that are at the present in reliability testing, each running 24/7 for a total of 1,000 hours.

Weaver also stated that the company is trying to have their technology licensed to Indian and European manufacturers.
